Artist Residency
Every winter, the Eugene Lodge and International Hostel opens its doors to 4 artists to come live in our artistic community.

Our residency allows us to offer fully furnished, all utilties-covered rooms, at cost, to artists and creators looking to live in the heart of the Whiteaker.* Rooms range from $700-800/mo. Residents live together in our Treehouse Lodge (4 bed, 2 ba) and have access to all guest amentities at the hostel.*** Laundry in-house, and a fully stocked and furnished home at your disposal, with the best porch in all of Eugene!

We actively recruit artists who are looking for a homebase to focus in on their art of choice. We provide the necessary items for creation as part of our residency, such as painting supplies, use of digital software, or musical instruments.** While we don't require it, we ask that all our artist residences apply their skills towards a project here at the Hostel, to forever stamp their place in our program and in our evolving artistic space.

This year, our residency is open to artists from Oct 1 to Apr 15, with options for a month-to-month, 3 month, or 6 month leasing options. 6 month leases preferred. We are unable to offer leases beyond this point.

Per Oregon rental law, we will consider applicants in the order they apply.
​
Deposit (Equal to first month rent) and first month rent due upon move-in.
​
Pets are not permitted, due to the community nature of the hostel. Service animals welcome.
​
Walkability score of 81, and Bike score of 100!
Street parking. 2 blocks from the nearest grocery, and easy walking/biking distance to all needs.

Please include proof of income/funds (at least 2x monthly) and a pdf with previous rental history (addresses, length of time, and contact information).

Living in Artistic Community
As the only art and hippie hostel in America, you'll be surrounded by a community of artists and travelers. Our policy here?
NO CORPORATE ART.
You'll also be here at an exciting time, where we are refreshing themes accross the hostel, designing murals, redocrating rooms, and creating more spaces for artistic expression! It's a winter wonderland of artistic expression, and we welcome you!

Art Supplies Provided
We get it. Art is not just about the time and space to create, but also the medium you use. As an art and hippie hostel, we have access and capability to support you in your artistic journey by offering the tools you need to create. Just list your medium and anticipated requirements below and we will support your supply needs!**

We have recording equipment, sound equipment, various instruments, digital platforms, art supplies, and more on site!

Leave your Mark
Many artistic residents chose to leave their mark on the hostel, either by way of performance (i.e. recorded live music/dance nights in our sound room or backyard stage), writing (i.e. developing the history of the hostel or our neighborhood), painting/drawing (mural design and painting), or whatever you're interested in!

Your art will leave a permanent impression on the hostel and will be here for years to come to inspire future artists!

Guest Access
While you'll be in your own house with your own address and fully furished amentites, you'll get to use the amenetities of the hostel just like a guest would!*** We can hold mail/packages for you, welcome you to create and hangout in our guest spaces (backyard stage, music room, 2 fully stocked kitchens, library, etc.). You'll be welcome to join staff hangouts, and if you'd like to continue with your time at the hostel, we welcome artist residents as work traders for up to 3 months.
* Rooms include bed, closet or dresser, and desk. Each room has individual features, please refer above for details.
House includes linens, community furniture, appliances, kitchenware, in-unit laundry, exclusive use of the treehouse interior and front porch. Utilties include gas, electricity, water, trash, and WiFi.
** Artistic supplies request must be within reason, and requested prior to acceptance.
*** Food not included. An artist resident may pay an additional food budget of $125 a month for guest breakfast and food stuffs.
